Itty bitty steps works for me! After I clean the kitchen I take one drawer or one shelf in a cabinet and I empty, dust, and rearrange the contents if nessary. I also get rid of anything I haven't used in one year. If you do this you never feel like anything is an overwhelming task, just a 15 minute job. I use the same method in all the areas of the house (closets, storage areas, pantry) I just do a shelf at a time usually starting at the top and work my way to the bottom.
I pulled everything out of kitchen cupboards, Saturday night. Reorganized so that I can find stuff; I don't mind if the place is a little messy, but inefficiency drives me crazy, esp. when I'm cooking. Where is the sesame oil?!!!
Well. I know right where it is now, after 3 hours of work. Now. For the rest of the house...

If my experience is any indication, forever.
3 pots of coffee & 24 hours. Want some help?
But would it really matter? The older I get, the less time I spend fussin' about the house. =)
